Frequently Asked Questions
What are the minimum requirements to become a Keyrenter franchisee?
- Cash Available to Invest: $75,000
- Net worth: $150,000
- Credit score: FICO score of 700 or higher
- A real estate license (We can guide you through the process if you don’t have it already.)
Do you offer financing?
No, but we have relationships with third party lenders that we can connect you with.
Is this a home-based business?
No, you are required to have a physical office location. Usually franchisees can use a shared office space. Google local business listings require a location (office) where you can receive mail and display a business sign.
What territories are available?
We have opportunities in every state!
How much does it cost?
The initial investment for a Keyrenter Property Management franchise is from $118,750 to $244,400. We provide more information within the Keyrenter 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document, which we will send out after you fill out a candidate questionnaire.
How much can I make?
We cannot guarantee how your individual Keyrenter Property Management franchise business will perform.
Once you turn in a candidate questionnaire, our franchise sales team will help you connect with our current franchisees so you can ask them about their individual performance.
Be sure to ask about total owner benefit, not just net business income, since many owners include a personal salary in their cost of doing business.
Do I need property management experience?
No. We will train you and help you get your real estate license. However, those have a background in real estate and property management do have an advantage.
How long does it take to open?
If you already have your real estate license, opening typically takes a couple of months, depending on how quickly you progress through training.
How many employees will I need?
When you first open your property management business, you will probably need three or four employees. As your business grows, you’ll likely need to hire more staff members.
Why should I consider purchasing a franchise?
To be successful, you’ll need processes and systems that work. One reason the property management industry has a poor reputation for service is because a lot of businesses aren’t built with the systems and processes needed to scale and can’t manage the needs of property owners or tenants. Our franchisees want the opportunity to scale without recreating the wheel.
A big advantage of Keyrenter is that we have built the technology, processes, legal agreements, and reporting tools to help you manage the business successfully.
I hear that many property management companies have a bad reputation. Should I really join Keyrenter?
That’s absolutely true. That is why Keyrenter was founded — out of frustration about the state of the industry. There are 360,000 property management businesses nationwide. The industry has a poor reputation because many of them deliver bad customer service.
Demand for property management services is strong and creates an opening for Keyrenter franchisees to win business by providing the excellent customer service that is too often absent.
Is absentee ownership an option?
Our franchise owners must be engaged in the business and ensure that it meets all the brand requirements to run a Keyrenter Property Management franchise. Over time, you may be able to hire managers to run key aspects of the business.
What motivates Keyrenter to care about franchisee success?
Our mission is to change lives one property at a time, and we are serious about this. Additionally, as a franchisor, royalty payments from franchisees are the lifeblood of our business. We’re only successful as a franchisor when our franchisees are also successful.
A lot of people who are new to franchising worry that they will just be a number, but the reality is that you’ll be part of a family of business owners dedicated to supporting one another and building a brand together.
Are single and multi-unit opportunities available?
Yes! Please submit your information and our franchise sales team will speak with you about the various unit opportunities.
